Big ideas, real impact.
“The best songwriter I’ve had the pleasure to work with” - Ellis “McLovick” Lovick. Born in Hull and raised on the music of the greats. In my youth I began my career as a piano player however, shortly after watching The Beatles on TV, I picked up the guitar. Music remained a hobby for me until I began studying a Level 2 music BTEC at Hull College in 2020, in which I hereafter progressed onto a Level 3 BTEC in Music Performance and Production, on which course I earned a high merit. It was here I gained an interest in Producing music, working with a few of my fellow student bands, most notably Alluvium. Here, I ran their recording sessions, gaining knowledge on how to run a recording session. It was also at this time I started to produce my own music, covering songs by artists such as Neil Young, Talking Heads and The Strokes. These courses were also great opportunities to perform in bands with lots of new people and gaining the intuition to feed off of ther musicians abilities to craft the best possible music. After finishing my studies at Hull College, I moved on to study Creative Music Production at the University of Huddersfield. This course allowed me to refine my skills as a producer and a live performer, learning skills from lecturers who are experts in their fields. Learning at Huddersfield allowed me to create a network of extremely talented musicians.
Through my studies at university, I was a founding member of the Indie Rock band Gravyboat, adding many years of production and performance experience to a lineup of fantastic musicians. It was here I came into my own as a songwriter, co-writing many of our band’s fan-favourite songs. Over our time as a band, we’ve performed to many packed-out crowds around England, going down a storm at many local venues.
